Social Gaming

We kicked off the day today with a fantastic panel on social gaming, moderated by Gareth Davis (Facebook) and featuring Sebastian de Halleux (Playfish / EA Games), Omar Abdelwahed (Unisoft), John David (Popcap) and Eric Todd (Playdom).
The main points were as follows:
- People would much rather play games with their mates on the internet rather than some random 14 year old in Serbia. Games on social networks facilitate that.
- Make your game accessible for non-gamers.
- It’s all about the playing experience - graphics are almost irrelevant.
- It doesn’t need to be perfect at launch - allow time for evolution and improvement. You can launch a game when it’s only 10% ready. Seriously.
- People are looking for ways to engage with their friends, NOT with brands. Real talk.
